Studio Notes & Protools Session Notes Posted on 2016-06-25 by Jonathan Pascone

I met with independent producer Sean, at RSA today and am feeling much more prepared for what is to come than I was prior. Sean has really shown me a lot of niches within his proces of recording & mixing that are highly effective, and the utmost time efficient. His look on Equalization, and mixing theory wholly was something I took to heart and plan on using in my own process. He has really taken me under his wing, and like many other engineers at the studio, have really welcomed me to their workplace. Sean has provided very well explained, hands-on information in just our introductory lesson. We specifically went over the utility of pre-amps, micing techniques, frequency response, & working with artists.

We plan on meeting anywhere from two-three times a week with a session within one or two of those meeting times. Sean also plans on sharing his projects with me to practice mixing. Similarly, he is invested in my enthusiasm and encourages me to be a part of every aspect of the recording & production process to equipt me with an ecclectic and efficient set of skills.

Upon my first protools session with my advisor, Sean Evans, we went over a lot of basics including: keyboard commands, multi-tools functions, plug ins, IOs, and customizing the edit window to better manage your workspace depending on the tasks at hand. I am excited to divulge back into a session to implement both the newly learned facets of protools and of course some plug in that have been reccommended on behalf of both Sean Evans & Sean from RCA. Especially from the wonderful website Sean Evans guided me to with all the free plug ins. Similalrly, I am super excited to be working with Sean Evans as he is doing a lot of the work that I plan on primarily focusing on such as: foley art, sfx, sound design, and voice over. It works out well that Sean from RCA also works within those fields.

I feel very comfortable with my studios with both my mentors, associate producers, and my advisor and I look forward in progressing through the subject material as well as being able to apply these techniques and lessons in my own work along the way. Also, I am ECSTATIC that I can relay on Sean Evans for any Post-Production audio questions or concerns I might have. This is a heavenly oppertunity!
