I've just finished my 4th session covering the material in chapter 3 (Digital Audio) with my mentor Dick Orr. I would definitely have to say this chapter was a little more challenging to understand due to the language and complex concepts in it. However, I was able to get a general idea of what the chapter was about before my session with my mentor. I was once a again pleased with the approach my mentor took in further explaining the material and how exactly it relates to what audio engineers do. Its very refreshing to know any and all questions I have can be answered throughly in a way I can fully grasp. I always feel like I'm leaving the session with a greater understanding of the material. Dick showed me an example of what a sequencer does using the recording softare "Sonar" playing a sequence of notes through his MIDI keyboard, and how that sequence can be applied to use any sample within the device. I was also able to hang around after my session and observe Dick working on the audio for a local TV spot. Being able to ask why he did this and that was extremely helpful in knowing not only what software did what, but also how I can apply the same steps in my own audio projects.
