So today, my mentor and I started to talk about the different types of microphones. We only got to talk about the Dynamic and Condenser microphones and a little background on what they are used for. Before he gave me some background on the two, I was a little confused at first with all of the different microphones needed in the recording studio because they all sounded the same and they all do sound the same but they all sound the slightest bit different. My mentor compared the Condenser microphone to St. Elmo's Fire in how when you go outside when its lightning sometimes, there is a shock on your finger tips and when it reaches a certain point, the lightning could strike yourself. So, he compared St. Elmo's Fire to how the Condenser microphone has two plates, one with an already charged plate and one with a negative plate. So, today was another educational day and it was great today.
