It's been just about two months since I started the program and it hasn't disappointed yet. It doesn't even feel like school. Each time I meet with my mentor I'm not sure what I'm walking into. Somedays it's quiet and I'm able to pick his brain on any and everything from techniques to business approaches. It's not uncommon for me to walk into a session, writing session or photo shoot. Someday's there are up and coming artist I'm not familiar with and someday's I may see someone that I've been listening to for years. Amazing....
Throughout it all it's been about the learning. My mentor normally starts with a challenge of some type. The challenges are often repetitive but they drill in importing things to always remember. Things like finding tempo's early and undetected and most importantly organization and file management. The small things that will make you look like a beginner if you are not aware. I've had a chance to touch a lot of hardware that I would not have the experience to deal with normally. I've learned to look at certain tools that I've been using for years differently. Lightbulb after lightbulb has gone off thus far. I'm approaching the mock session stage which is exciting. Although I'm picking up the information, I'm looking forward to the day that I successfully exercise what I've been learning. I will undoubtedly have that chance. Looking forward to what's to come!.....
