In Chapter 12 I learned about Mix theory. Mix theory explains that we as audio engineers combine an entire multi track session into a stereo track. It goes on to explain that panning coveys a sense of space in the mix, the illusion of depth can be created in the mix by controlling the volume and space can also be created by the use of reverb or delays. I also learned in chapter 12 that Audio Mastering is the process of taking the final mixdown and preparing the master copy from which all duplicates will be made.
In the studio Renegade explained Levels and he said that make sure there is no clipping. He said that in order to get my levels a good idea is to began mixing at 12:00. Renegade also stated that I should check my plugins for clipping. I learned that when recording vocals it is good practice to make sure I am not clipping when being recorded because this is a bad way to get a recording if you start out hot. He said that when using the pre amp control the preamp input then control the output.
