Chapter Sixteen Posted on 2017-06-05 by Chelsea George

Chapter sixteen was in introduction to MIDI which means musical instrument digital interface. Midi is the standard way in which we interact with music in the digital word. I learned in chapter 16 that a MIDI file (.mid) can be captured on one system and be played back on an entirely different system. I also learned that it takes a controller to generate MIDI. Before MIDI sound sources were dedicated instruments and with MDI the possible sound creation are seemingly endless.

In the studio Renegade explained that there are three types of MIDI events: MIDI control events ( MIDI channel Data or continuous control events. He explained that most data transmitted in a MIDI signal are that of MIDI control events. They represent the start and stop of each note played, the note number (Pitch) the velocity (volume) and other MIDI continuous control events such as pitch bend and other modulations of sound.
