First let me say it's essential information given in the first chapter. However it's also hard to grasp all at once. And though I cant exactly speak for everyone I know for me, proof reading and reviewing the sections gave a greater chance of getting a clear understanding of everything. Taking notes is also a helpful tactic and it helps to easily drill what's being taught into your head. Sound and how our ears perceive that sound was a interesting yet valuable learning experience for me and I can bet if you put in the time to process what's being given, it would be a intriguing experience for you as well.
