Major: Audio Engineering

My name is Jarrien Demont Dixon. My family and friends call me JayDee. I was born July 5, 1997, in the capital city of Hartford, Connecticut. Even though it was a beautiful city, inflation and the high cost of living took its toll on my family. At the age of 7 my mother and I relocated to the bustling city of Atlanta, Georgia with hopes of rebuilding broken dreams, living a more successful and affordable lifestyle. Twelve years later here we are reaping the benefits of our labor.

After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, I attended Clifton Elementary School, now renamed Barack H. Obama Elementary Magnet School of Technology, Druid Hills Middle School, and Cedar Grove High School. I am a 2015 graduate of Cedar Grove High School, and was a member of the Mighty Marching Saints. I have set out on a second journey to reach and conquer even more accomplishments. In order to achieve my next level of success, I am presently attending Georgia Perimeter College with hopes of continuing on to Georgia State University. In addition to attending college, I am an Independent Web Based Business Owner with Britt World Wide, Amway, and an Alto Saxophonist. I have to admit that these are big changes from high school, but I am enthusiastic about the new challenges.

Since I can remember I have possessed a passion for movements, beats, rhythms, and sounds. I have embraced music and all of its elements as a first love. I began saxophone lessons at the age of 9 and have continued to embrace the melodic sounds of the instrument. I have not been able to lay it down or let go. I enjoy listening to, arranging, producing, and performing various genres of music. As a saxophonist, I have participated in local and district wide band competitions and parades, including solo performances, high school and college jazz band, First Friday’s with Dexter Tolson at CalaBar and Grill, and two talent search competitions. The talent search competitions were hosted by Khia Shamone Finch and Coast to Coast Live in Atlanta, Georgia. Compensated performances have included Local Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Educational Support Staff, and Retirement Banquets, weddings, anniversaries, renewal of vows, birthday parties, and church events. I am currently serving on the music staff at my church.

Apart from the above, I am just enthusiastic about life. The life I speak of was really not promised to me, in fact, it was predestined that I would not live. I defied those odds and have decided to embark upon the creative gifts that were given to me by God. I will continue to build my self confidence, promote unity through peace, pursue my career goals by being focused, hard working and determined, and finally becoming a reputable and independent young man. I will attain this independence with the assistance of positive role models and mentors supporting me in my home, church, community, and school. My enrolling in Recording Connections Audio School and attending classes at Twelve Music Group, will expound upon my future independence by launching new endeavors to promote entrepreneurship.
