One thing that stood out to me when reading through this first chapter was the information on our ears and how complex they are. Every aspect of the ear is a specific function to the perception of sound, and can give us different advantages in mixing music, for example we instinctually focus our hearing to the loudest noise, which can help when an instrument is louder than others recorded in to a mix.
