AMBITIOUSLY DIVERSIFY YOUR PORTFOLIO Posted on 2013-02-06 by Charles Kirkpatrick

Possibly the most important thing in the music business is one's portfolio. When I speak of a portfolio, i'm not just talking about a RESUME. I'm talking about who one works with, what one works with, where one works, and what one works for. To elaborate, i'm saying that Rappers need to work with Rock & Rollers. If one only records electronic music then it's extremely important to start focusing on Orchestras and Mozart style music. Everybody needs to remember this is a business! Nothing and free not even respect from your mentor. If one wants to be successful in the music business their portfolio needs to be versatile. Don't just be a musician, be an engineer. Don't just be an engineer, be a producer. Don't just work in the studio, go live and broadcast. If there is any opportunity attached to the art of "Recording" then we all better apply ourselves with everything we have. Also always remember to keep going. Don't build an empire and quit. If everybody did that, we wouldn't have The Recording Connection. AMBITIOUSLY DIVERSIFY YOUR PORTFOLIO so you can mentor the generations to come. In doing so you're bound to be successful.
