Dean Singleton — Austin Recording Connection
Growing up in Austin has played a big part in developing my interests in music. I have spent lots of time going to see shows here. My passion is learning about various genres; and, as a result, I enjoy lots of different kinds of music:
I graduated from Bard College in upstate New York as an Art History major; and, while I was there I was a deejay for two years. I liked deejaying there, because I got to be in charge of selecting music for my radio show while familiarizing myself with the broadcasting equipment in the studio.
Right now, I am working as a music consultant for Marguerite Phillips, a music supervisor who has a couple of movies at Sundance Film Festival. I enjoy working as a music consultant, because I get lots of exciting projects that involve picking out songs to match with important scenes in movies.
Learning a skilled trade in the music business is something that has always interested me. This opportunity sounds exciting, because I know the more effort I put into it, the more I will get out of it.
