Sorry, I know I haven't been blogging lately. I got really caught up in the studio actually so everything just slipped my mind because I've been so eager to learn more. Andy has been a really great mentor. I'm getting the hang of ProTools, setting up a session and recording so far. Learning about the different kinds of mics is ALOT because there are so many. I hope to one day have a huge collection of mics to have variety to choose from.
I've been to a number of sessions, meeting all kinds of people along the way. This past Monday, I got to sit in on a band session and I really enoyed it. They were a jazz group and the singer mainly controlled the session while Andy just hit the record button. I understood a lot better how he works in sessions involving a number of people. There are frustrations and everyone has ideas to express. As an engineer it's best to sit some discussions out and let the band work things out, unless you're really needed. I also helped set up the mics for this session and am getting to know the studio better.
Just wanted to write a super short blog summing u everything I learned within a week or so since I forgot to blog all those other days. I need to keep track of them. Next blog will be submitted very soon! :)
