Long Time No Blog!!! Posted on 2014-10-29 by Kayla Chappell

I haven't been blogging too much mainly because I've been super busy, especially at the studio with my awesome mentor Andy. I'm learning so much so fast and it's nice to hear my teacher say he's proud of me. I've already recorded two sessions, recording for a band that offered to be my study subjects, haha.

I recorded just the bass player for the first session. The second session was the singer, bassist, and drummer. Drums....drums are a piece of work to mic. I've gotten to use so many mics: Senn 602, Sm 57, 604s, MT  5, Sm 87...ranging from dynamic to condenser mics.

I don't want to say too much in this one blog because I'm going to do some catching up, so I'll talk more about the sessions later.

Sadly, right now I've been struggling to get my Pro Tools up and running for the past 2 weeks. For some reason the code the school sent me has somehow already been used? It's just a huge game of waiting to see if the Avid tech support can fix the problem. Soon, I'll posting actual audio and video content. Until then, stay tuned!

I would love to have a client like her one day if I ever get my own studio... Read More >>
