Acoustic Isolation Posted on 2013-05-20 by Joel Oyekanmi

5/7/13 Time:9am-11am Lesson 2 Today my mentor and I went through acoustic isolation of the studio he showed me how studio A console room wall was built and was not touching the tracking room wall by using beams in order to prevent vibration of drums or any kind of low frequency sound he showed me the importance of leaving space between walls he explained further that when you think of acoustic isolation think of insulation and the rule is to make sure that there are spaces between walls since low frequency can pass through even thick walls. Also we went through the studios and I saw the place called sound lock which is the small room containing two doors between the control room and the studio exterior area it's amazing how sound can be trapped in this room he went further to explain the importance of diffusers he hypothetically represented it with a " butter knife" you use this knife to spread butter on your bread by smoothing it around, diffusers do the same thing by spreading and smoothing the sounds in the studio around. What an eventful day very interesting .
