WOW what a whirlwind...
Massive flooding here in Louisiana back in August... Lost my computer when I placed it in the attic to keep it from getting flooded but the heat in the attic wiped it out anyway. So after working multiple jobs and saving as much money as quickly as possible I've finally been able to get a replacement computer... an iMac 21.5 inch 2011 model. Hey it's not the Mac Pro that I want, but I'll have to save and build toward getting what I want later.
For now I really need to get back to practicing and studying.
My mentor's studio was wiped out in the floods, but he should be up and running in the next few weeks, so I'm really looking forward to getting back on this.
In the meantime, I was able to land a job doing the autio recording for an Independent short film in Pascagoula the Sunday before last. Was originally signed up to be an extra, but when the Boom Mic operator was a no-show I was able to volunteer for that, then the sound recording guy didn't show up... so I did both!
The director said I did a great job and had a solid understanding of what he needed and what needed to be done, thanks to what I've learned here. I've also been able to volunteer some skills and knowledge at our church in order to help them get their auido needs pointed in the right direction. This past Sunday I landed a spot as an Extra working with Ethan Hawke on the Blaze filming here in Baton Rouge. Didn't really use any audio skills, but was able to get a first hand view of the audio works used in the filming of a motion picture! I've decided that's the direction I would like to head with this if possible. Another direction that interests me is Radio work and I'd like to investigate that further also.
Sure hope everyone is having a Great Day and I'm looking forward to a Great New Year!
