Miking specific instruments.

This information is fascinating.  Mic placement is absolutely critical.  I hope I get to practice soon at my mentor's studio.  He has a wide variety of mics.  A friend told me about an engineer that miked his kick drum by placing a mic in the hole then covering the back of the drum and the mic with a heavy quilt.  He said it sounded fantastic.  I'll looking forward to discussing this technique with my mentor to get his opinion and input.

My ProTools is being shipped.  I'm very excited about it.  I can hardly wait to start learning to use it.  Time to schedule another lesson with my mentor.
