I have NEVER used mp3s when I work, but know many people who still do (even tracking out for mixdowns). Time and time again, I have told them exactly what they are doing, but some people are just set in their ways. While knowlege like this doesn't effect the musicality of the project, information like this is very important to know because it is often not obvious to people that they are actually damaging their product. If they did actually hear the difference, they would probably try to EQ it. Much less effective and more difficult than just exporting it right!
