The First Session Posted on 2017-01-19 by Jeremiah Wilson

Hello and hope everyone is doing well.

On the 16th of January in 2017 I had my first audio engineering session at MixMaster Pro Studios in Burke, Va. I was given a bit of an introduction to the workings of the studio and how they use the many pieces of hardware they own. The studio recently installed a Slate Digital Raven Z3 which is a main studio DAW that also has touch sceen capabilities. It will be interesting to see how the engineers in the studio adapt and increase work flow due to this new installment.

That same day, while mainly focusing on vocal engineering, I got to stay longer and learn/ work with another engineer/producer/artist named Spoken. He showed me a ProTools and the work flow he uses for vocals; getting a bit into pre amps, compression/limitors, rvox, DeEsser, EQ, ect. We even played round with a beat and made a song out of it, focusing mostly on vocals.

I have to say, This first day was definitely a lot to take in and will take even longer to sink in, but with the more i hang aroungd the studio guys, I have no doubt in my mind that I will begin to gain a deeper understanding of the adio engineering process.

p.s - sorry i dont have any pictures of my first day.
