Today was the first studio session I had with my mentor, Steve McGonigle, at BlackBox Studios. Steve began with catching me up on what he has improved and changed with his studio since the last time I had met up with him, and just toured me around. Afterwards we went over the first chapter of the book, where he showed me examples and demonstrations of some of the theories in the book. He answered some of the issues that I was having and we talked over some of the related equipment in the studio that had to do with the first chapter.
Steve also told me prior to the session that he would be having a vocalist come in who had booked studio time with him and asked if I would like to sit in and help out. So before she came I helped him set up a miniature booth in one of the studios and set up a microphone. When she arrived we began the recording process and I sat in on what the average session looks like. I only sat in on her working on one song that we were working on pretty extensively. Overall the first studio session impressed me and further motivated me to work toward a potential career in this business
