Christopher JenningsCharlotte Recording Connection

Major: Music Production/Mastering Engineering

My name is Christopher Jennings. I was born in Forest, MS in 1990. I moved to Charlotte, NC immediately after graduating high school in 2008. Since then, I have attended Central Piedmont Community College and I received an Associate's Degree in Arts. Now, I want to focus solely on recording music and live sound reinforcement. I grew up listening to the music that surrounded me back in MS, like hit radio and hip hop. Once I moved to North Carolina, I eventually branched out and searched different types of music myself. I used websites like Wikipedia to learn the history behind music and different types of music. Also, I took a history of music class at CPCC. After listening to Buckcherry's 15 album, I immediately became hooked on rock and roll music. Once I listened to Deep Purple's album Machine Head, classic heavy metal became a favorite and Deep Purple became my favorite band. Listening to their early stuff forced me into listening to classical and eventually, I began listening to all types of music. Now, I have an interest in a wide range of music types like the following: rock and roll, blues, metal, psychedelic, progressive, country, folk, jazz, funk, soul, rhythm and blues, bluegrass, classical, baroque, salsa, bossa nova, etc. I have a strong passion for music and I simply cannot go one day without listening to it. I want a career surrounded by music for the rest of my life. It is something I enjoy everyday of my life. One of my many goals is to search for independent musicians that I believe have the "it" factor and help them become well known musicians through recording cover songs that may not have been singles or hits by earlier bands  that probably didn't get the success they desereved and releasing the song to the radio. This will help recognize both the upcoming artist and the original artist that may not have been well known. I also want to bring music genres back into the mainstream that were very popular and I believe should still be popular right now. I believe genres such as blues, jazz, and classical music deserve to continue to be mainstream. Maybe my goals are long shots, but I believe with proper training, lots of studio time, and hours of practice and experience, I can accomplish all, if not most, of my goals. I don't plan to become rich, I only want to live comfortable for the rest of my life doing something I love. I don't want extra fancy cars and houses. I only want steady music career for the rest of my life with a big enough salary to support my family.
