Chapter 7 was about preparing and conducting various tracking sessions. These are the sessions that I've gotten to sit in on the most and can be really fun. Like you get to meet different people who all have a different vibe. At the studio I intern at they have a pretty solid system in terms of how they track and record artists. Its designed to be really effiecient so the artist can move as fast as possible. But they never rush the artist! Making the artist feel comfortable is a big part to being an engineer because you want your client to feel free to create and produce without distraction or interference. Preparing for a tracking session is pretty routine but good engineers watch out for little things that might seem like big problems. Something small might be wrong like a track may not be active in pro tools or something might not be plugged in all the way or loose. Just stay on your toes and preparation yields success.
