Sound and Hearing

Sight is perceived light, and recognized by the eyes. In a similar fashion, sound is perceived audible signals, or vibrations that are recognized by the ears. These vibrations have the capability to travel through a certain space or device. Therefor, in regards to the reception of those signals, hearing is the endpoint in the human brain 's recognition process. Chapter 1 focuses briefly on the history of sound, measuring sound, and manipulation of sound. My favorite experience in this chapter was eventually being able to simply explain how sound works. Albert Einstein said, "If you can't explain something simply, you don't understand it well enough yourself.”

I hadn’t been in a real recording studio in almost two years. I certainly didn’t think the next time would include an “in class” atmosphere.  That being said, Joe and his partners at Miller St. Studios are the real deal. I believe a good sound engineer reminds the recording artist that there will always be a need for them. With only a few hours this week in the studio, I’ve that seen that commitment and passion from their team. I am very much looking forward to next week.
