This week I felt I understood Chapter 3 better in my studio day rather than my class day. Everybody’s different but I personally learn better with a hands-on approach. We went through the basic building blocks of a recording session and went over more of the hardware involved. What was discussed at great length was the importance of the right bit depth and sample rate selection. In layman’s terms making your equipment worker smarter rather than harder. These choices above all others would result in the best quality sound.

The thing I like most about this course is the sneak peak into the oncoming chapters. I’d compare it to seeing a new movie trailer for a sequel. You have knowledge from previous scenes and can anticipate the oncoming action. This process keeps the fire lit and builds excitement into learning more the following week. A process lost in traditional education. Even when your passionate about a certain subject the temptation to procrastinate still exists. Here at the Recording Connection I believe our teachers and staff are well aware of this possibility. However they’ve figured something out… because I can’t wait for my next lesson.
