Lesson#1

Let me begin by saying I am very excited about enrolling in the Recording Connection Program. During the first lesson I learned about the career opportunities in this field such as an artist, producer, engineer mastering engineer, DJ, etc.  Also, I learned about sound wave characteristics and properties. This included amplitude, wavelength, velocity, waveforms used to create synthesizer sounds, parameters, and measuring volume. In addition, I learned about hearing safety and the decibel sound pressure level table covering the threshold of hearing and the threshold of pain. I was not introduced to any equipment which did not come as a surprise considering it was only my first lesson.

I am very excited about being a student with Recording Connection and feel there are many good things to come.  I am excited to learn all I can to develop, improve, and hone my musical abilities.  I feel that this program can jumpstart what I want to achieve.  Simply being enrolled makes the idea of making a career out of music more real and serves as the perfect motivation.

My mentor at Miller Street Studio is Joe Gallagher. I feel comfortable around my mentor; he keeps things simple and is very knowledgeable and experienced. I am excited to learn how to make live performances sound good as well as tracks on a CD.  I am also excited to get to work on ProTools and develop my production and engineering abilities.  I find the note-taking challenging because there is a lot of information to cover and I find it difficult to determine what I should notate because it all seems important to me.
