To cut or to boost is the question. Equalization is a key component in mixing. The first example of using eq was boosting the signal in a telegraph line. With all the advancements over the years, especially with digital plugins, eqing has gotten much easier to do. High pass filters let high frequencies pass thru unaffected, while low pass filters do the same for low frequencies. I learned the the air kill eq in pro tools will help me be able to do dj mixes, because it can act like a dj mixer for cuting specific frequencies. I will be spending a great deal of time working with eq's to understand them better.
