I've milked my first drumset! With an entire Sunday devoted to the studio I helped with the milking and tracking of an 8 piece drumset and an acoustic guitar. Its mind boggling to have to keep track of the signal flow. With 14 mics on the drums, there was a ton of room for error if one cable was out of place. I worked alongside the Head Engineer, Tony, and watched in awe as he applied experience to quickly solve any problems and build the perfect environment for tracking. When we weren't dealing with the technical side of things I watched closely as he interacted with the talent. After every playthrough of the scratch track he offered the drummer water, bought everyone pizza, and was constantly building the artists up with industry advice and knowledge. At the end of the day I stuck around for clean-up. I must've done something right because before we left for the night, Tony checked my interest in a potential internship...
