There had always been vague clues about automation in the entire textbook leading up to this chapter and now finally I can stop reading "but will get to more on automation later." Once again we flew through the history section fairly quick and started speaking about automation creation, parameters, and styles. This was followed but some practical application and we used each of the modes read, write, latch, and touch on both audio and MIDI/instrument tracks.
