Victor Newton — Denver Recording Connection
Villain, aka Vic Da Villain, was born May 2, 1981 under the name Victor Lamaar Newton in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He was exposed to music, drugs and hustling at a very young age due to the enviornment he was exposed to. He eventually moved to Jackson Mississippi. Vic was 9 at the time. His one passion and only thing that helped him to express himself, was music. As a child he loved rhyming books, poetry and music. He started recording himself, listening to cd’s and rhyming at 3 years old. He recalls playing on his Casio keyboard, playing what he heard , such as LL Cool J, D Nice, Queen Latifah, Heavy D and the Boys and NWA. He attended the Camio concert at age 3. When the drummer came out of the sky, he knew he wanted to be a star!
At a very young age, he started getting heavy into rap. He would record himself over the radio, freestyle and would write a lot, poetry and raps. He joined the choir and the drama club at school and was on the right path for stardom. Unfortunately, at 14 his life crumbled when his mother died of Cancer in his arms. Vic was left with no one in this world, having no family, but his grandmother who he lived with. He found the everyday grind difficult and continued to write and rhyme to get his anger and emotions out. As a teenager he attended the Salt and Peppa and Boys to Men concerts knowing that he wanted be on that stage.
His biggest influences in pursuing a music career were Marvin Gaye, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Stevie Wonder, Aerosmith, Earth Wind and Fire, George Clinton, NWA, 2 Live Crew, 2 Pac, David Banner and NAS.As a young man Villain found himself all alone again when he moved to Colorado and was soon forced to be homeless. He would ride the bus up and down the city streets to stay warm, all the while continuing to write, for his only possession was his notebook and pen. He soon began to hustle and come up off the streets. He met BOWA music in 2004 and was on his path to stardom once again. He was featured on 3 Mix tapes, BOWA Street Mix, volumes 1, 2 and 3 and Dem BOWA Boys. He attended the Grooveline Magazine College Tour and The Texas Music Conference in 2006. They also did hundreds of shows locally and at surrounding Colleges and even performed at the Summer Jam concert. He felt comfortable and at home on stage and touring. He left BOWA Music and began working on creating his solo career. He got his first real piece of equipment MV8800 and taught himself how to record and produce his own beats. He has been working on his first solo album “D Boy Swag” and is hoping to release it soon.
Villain’s sound is similar to Southern artists such as UGK, 8 Ball and MJG, Young Money, Grand Hustle and Mabach Music. Bringing his genuine character to the heart of his music is what makes his music exciting and memorable. His major influences currently are Jay Z, T.I., Ludacris, NAS, Young Money, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Twista and NAS. These writers, producers and rappers are not only influences but also people Villain wishes to collaborate with some day. Villain is striving to be a prolific song writer, producer and artist and wants his name to be associated with the current music movement and eventually own his own record label. In the meantime, he is continuing to produce, write and record great music. Villain believes that motivation and ambition, “go hard or go home,” will keep him driven ultimately achieving stardom. Villain will be supporting Cancer Foundations and Youth Programs as well as helping his city in which he grew up, Jackson Mississippi. He currently Volunteers his time coaching for the local middle schools basketball team and has been an assistant coach for years.
Villain’s experience in life and the musical influences have made him a well rounded artist and is thirsty to learn more, everything he can for that matter. He has determination and extreme passion for music and will be a profitable addition to your team.
