today i took my midterm which i had studied all night for. i only missed a couple so the studying did me good. this studio session was different and fun. one of my mentor's customers had a song she was working on but the beat was mixed horribly by the person that had it before hand. she didnt send the stems of the song to him so he had no choice but to try to recreate the whole beat from scratch. he gave all the interns an opportunity to try to re create it. we had a drummer come in and record the percussive sonds while we tracked him. a few other interns were trying to figure out what notes were being played on the lead synth. they did this by grabbing a guitar and playing until they heard the note being played in the song. then we had to find all the sounds that was similar to the sounds in the song. of course the final product wasnt exactly the same as the original but it worked!
