Just completed my 14th lesson with Joe Hernandez at Innovative Music Studios yesterday. For this particular session, we went over how to use Delay. So now we've completed all 4 of the main tools that audio engineers use for mixing (EQ, Compression, Reverb, and Delay). Joe stated that these 4 will more than likely be all you need. The skill is knowing how to use them and when to use them during a mixing session for a track. I found it interesting to see how fast or slow the delay kicked in depending on how much you increased or decreased the feedback. I had a chance to play with the Ratio and Gain also on the 5 different notes (Whole Note, half note, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16). I got confused a little on how to bus the instrumental tracks to the auxillary tracks, but once Joe helped me to better understand it, everything went well. Can't wait for next Tuesday to see what's next.
