Goldboot Posted on 2013-08-22 by Charese Fruge

On Thursday August 15th, I attended a showcase at the Cosmopolitan featuring Goldboot. A local band that my instructor worked with in the studio. I witnessed the band live after a session with Mark where he explained to me the difference between a Mix and a final Master. Then he explained that in most studios there is a different person assigned to produce the final master of an album and that sometimes this can cause a very different sound from the original creation. He explained that this was the case with Goldboots new record and gave me a copy of both the final Mix and the final Mastered version. He was clearly correct in that the two products were a slightly different sound. Interesting facts for a radio person who often hears a mixed version first, but can't play a song on the air until we get a final mastered version. Now I understand why.
