Microphones.
This week, our focus was emphasized on microphone types, models, and their respective frequency response ranges. By utilizing a drum tracking session I engineered at Studio West the weekend prior for my current band, DETHSURF, my mentor Josh and I went over the twelve mic choices used in my session. We compared mics within the session by soloing certain mic groups and by using dynamic EQ plugins to visually see where, frequency-wise, each mic was responding the best. All of this knowledge is helping me in my extra-curricular endeavors in my own band and beyond.
