April began singing and writing at a very young age. She describes the process that began on a playground in elementary school. Other kids played games and sports while April wrote songs, plays, poems and fiction. The first instrument April learned to play was the piano. Her instructor was a stern Russian woman who gave April little room for error. At 13, she picked up her sister's acoustic guitar. The first song she learned to play was Bob Marley's "Redemption Song", and at that point April knew that she wanted to pursue a music career. Over the next few years she focused on writing music and performed at local open mics.
At the age of 20, April moved to Nashville, TN to further pursue a career. She sat on the street corners in downtown Nashville with her guitar and serenaded the pedestrians on Friday and Saturday nights. April also played at several venues including a club called "Limelight". Throughout her two year stay in Tennessee, April gained great insight into the music industry and herself. But in the beginning, she ran into some misfortune and wound up homeless (but not hopeless). She stayed in a women's halfway house and worked just enough to survive as a server in an assisted living facility. After a couple months, April had saved enough money for a deposit on an apartment and finally had a place to call home. As tough as it was, the experience was great inspiration for her artistry, and several of her songs reflect upon that dark time in her life. She hooked up with a manager in Nashville and a producer in Springfield, Illinois. Their intention was to create a five song pop/rock EP to pitch to record labels, but the project collapsed in the hands of the contracted producer, who never delivered the final mixes. She couldn’t afford to take legal action, and due to financial problems, April decided to move back to her hometown. In the midst of the move, April discovered her passion for writing and producing electronic/dance music. 
 The “studio" was a tiny closet in her tiny apartment, and she made the best with what she had (a Macbook, a USB keyboard, a condenser microphone and Logic Pro software). After a few bad managers and frustrating dead ends, she decided to take the reins in her own hands, and through networking and self-promotion, made some very important connections in the music industry. April has worked with reputable producers like Dino English (also the drummer for Dark Star Orchestra), Brandon Mashburn and Jonathan Perkins. Currently she is working with Mac Behrens of Germany, and Audiofreaks of the UK. They recently cranked out April's first single entitled “It Gets Better”. April is also working with PRRLG/BMG Publishing in Sweden on a separate project. In addition, April is currently furthering her production and audio engineering education through the Recording Connection and has landed an Internship at NitroSonic Recording Studio in Lexington.
