Automation, the fader thingy, right? In correlation with MIDI, I like simplistic, analogue, and live by the KISS rule and plug-and-chug idea. Using faders and automation help me keep things simple. Instead of constatnly recording the same part over and over, automation allows me to do eq very easily using the Pro Tools edit options. Not only that, but it allows me to edit a part without changing the whole. I was already doing these things before I started the program, but I never knew it was called Automation. The more you know!
