Week 17's lesson on automation was very timely. It is one of the least seemingly accessible parts of the PT interface. Its also something that is used very rarely by the studio. When automation isn't used as an artistic tool, it's something very sublte done at the end of the mix process. Variations on reverb amount and volumes of certain tracks, etc. I am more interested in automation as an application in sound synthesis. Building on last weeks lessons on instrument plugins, I have been experimenting on using it as a creative tool, as all parameters of a synth plugin can be automated.
