For my thirteenth week I had the chance to use my new eq the puigtech on a kick drum from "The Siege" which I chose for the mix assignment.  I attueneted about 3 db at 60Hz and boosted 10 db at 5 kHz to bring out more of the beater.  I also added a gate to reduce the mic bleed coming from the snare.  The puigtech took a little time to get used to but I really enjoy it.  It definitley warms up whatever you want to EQ since its modeled after the pultec that has tubes.  I also ran the snare drum into the puigchild modleled after the fairchild compressor.  It sounds amazing.  I love how warm it makes your tracks.  I had the ratio set to 2:1.  Wasnt compressing a whole lot but it helped drag out the snare a bit making it sound longer in the mix and  I added some make up gain by 2 dB.  This week was a good intro into these new plugins I plan on using in the future.
