For my fourteenth week at Serenity West I showed Steve the DI guitar tracks I re amped during our group lesson the week prior. I got sent some DI electric guitar tracks for a session I'm working on so I decided to give re amping a shot. I sent the DI tracks out of the computer into a Marshall JCM cab we have in the live room at the studio. I had my assitant/buddy Camilo set up a SM57 and a Coles 4038 on the guitar cab about an inch from the mesh of the cab just inbeetween the center of cone and the edge of the speaker. I also had him set up a Telefunken U47 in the far corner of the live room to pick up some natural reverb. We had 3 different tones we had to get for the session. We had a pretty overdriven slide guitar tone for the intro and chorus sections, a more mellower neck pick up sound for the verses and a super driven tone for the solo. Steve seemed really impressed by the sounds I got that session. After I showed him the those tracks he showed me how to do drum edits using beat detective. I split each the drum tracks into sections and captured them using beat detective and snap them into postion making the drums a little tigher. I would add cross fades and and color code each section I completed. It was a really inspiring lesson and super thankful for this oppurtuinity.
