Today I got to sit in on a mixing and overdub session for a well known client. We were mixing and overdubbing tracks for his anniversary concert, working with the producer of the show, when all of a sudden my mentor had an emergency call and had to leave the studio.
To my surprise, instead of postponing the rest of the session, he asked me to take over! It was nothing too complicated, but still- I was responsible for punching the musicians in, selecting the appropriate mic and placement, and maintaining the integrity of the session. It felt great to know that my mentor trusted me enough to do this. And, it went without a hitch.
