MIDI has had a special place in my heart for about the past six years. I bought the EAST/WEST Composers collection in 2009 to start messing around with classical compositions. It has been a slow, pain-staking, and aduous journey, but it has been incredibly fulfilling to learn the odds and ends of MIDI. Much of this chapter was a refresher for me...only because I have figured out a lot of the basics though year of trial and error. It was interesting to read about the early days of MIDI, and how it came into fruition. I got a kick out of writing my MIDI homework, as it forced me to think outside the box a little with my writing. My mentor and I have not discussed MIDI much up to this point, so it will be nice to hear his perspective on the topic.
