Week 2 Blog post Mix Session & Observation Posted on 2017-12-07 by Derek Bradford

I was able to sit in a mix session ran my by instrector Michael.

The song that he was mixing had a pop vibe with female vocals and a hard trap influence.

Michael demostrated vocal editing techniques with side chaining the adlibs to reach desisred reverb effects

bussing your audio tracks to Aux track to achive the cleanest mix

and A/Bing your track with a well mix song that fits in the same spectrum of the project your working on

The next day was my observatoin day. I was able to sit in with Mark and two other students in the Mastering room.

Mark expalaned the concept of dynamc range

How as a mix enginers we like to obtain the same sound as a live set,

volume is based on the avarage and the peak of the tansiant.

The second half of my observaton day i was able to help MIc a piano recording sesson in the dubway studio.

the objective was to help curate a very spific piano sound without any phasying

we used three different mics all equal distance from each other and the piano

after several test runs and finding the right levels on the pre amp we were abe to capture a good recording
