Jon TimbrookOmaha Recording Connection

Chapter 4 blog Posted on 2016-08-19 by Jon Timbrook

Hey Everybody!

Chapter 4 over connectivity is now a thing of the past! This chapter focused on teaching me the importance of the different types of connections that are made in a studio, as well as troubleshooting connectivity problems to help reach ideal audio clearity.  I am now one step closer to being able to help Ric in the studio!

Since I have yet to reach the part of the program where I will be in the "meat" of the material, most of my time that isn't spent at work or studying chapters out of my E-Book have been dedicatied to practicing my drum rudiments, and playing along to my records :))

This is the link to a video that I watch almost every week if not a couple times a week either for both entertainment and help with being an articulate drummer. The video is an instructial video for practicing rudiments around the drum kit with Thomas Pridgen (who is amazing and is the guy in the picture).

This video is AMAZING and has so many things to take away.

I'm sure my new neighbors are absolutly thrilled to be living in such close proximity to an aspiring drummer!! lol, even when I'm not drumming I have my music pretty dang loud because... why the hell not! Anyone who know me knows I like to bump my tunes. Especially James. James Freeborn, my roommate back at IU know how much I like to listen to loud music litterally at all times of the day. I sure do miss living with him.

As for what I like to play to, I have always kind of just let shuffle decide what I play that day, and recently shuffle has been sneaking in some old country songs and let me tell you... I have been loving it. The other day I played along to "pickup man" by Joe Diffie, Some Eric Church, Rodney Atkins, Jake Owen, and of course the hero Garth Brooks, and suprisingly I've been able to play and sing along a little bit! So look out Nashville!!

Tonight I am going to check out a band that a slip renter where I work, plays in. His name is skip and its his 65th birthday party so his blues band is going to play a show at his slip and he wanted me to come check them out because he is looking for a drummer to play with them around town, so maybe soon I will be able to get out and start gigging around Nashville!

Lots of cool things happening and lots of cool things are on the horizon, so keep and eye and an ear out for yours truely.

For now, I'm putting the needle down on AC/DC's For Those About to Rock, so well be seeing ya.

Dueces
