Where should I begin?
- Well, how about at the beginning?
All epic journeys have a beginning, some of them more humble then others (cough cough Drake). Bilbo for instance, began in a hole in the ground and although it wasn’t a dirty or smelly hole, it was still a hole. My journey began in a hole as well. It wasn’t an actual hole though (like Bilbo or even his kinfolk Frodo) it was more of a metaphorical hole. I don’t want to come across as too underprivileged either for fear of later becoming famous and then alternately being accused for claiming humble beginnings (cough cough Drizzy) though so i want to make very clear of the fact that it wasn’t a particularly large hole. Nothing life threatening or earth shattering (see what i did there?). This was more like a conundrum. The problem being that I desired a career in a field that I had no real experience or expertise in. The nOOb wanted to run with big dogs, and not only run with them for the pure sake of aerobic pleasure, but run with them and get PAID to do it. Into the sunset as the guitar solo wails. Fade to black.
So what does Frodo do when Gandalf tells him that he is in possession of the One ring? What does Captain America do when his best friend Bucky is captured behind enemy lines? What does the clown fish do when he realizes his son has left the safety of the reef? How do any of these situations relate in any way to the fact that I wanted a job in the Music industry but didn’t have an in? All the heroes in these stories left the safety and comfort of the couch to chase something. The journey for the holy grail. Cap wanted to save his buddy, Frodo to destroy the ring. The clownfish wanted to surf with turtles and I want a jamming job.
I signed up for an apprenticeship program with The Recording Connection.
So the journey begins...
*lights dim as our hero is left center stage standing by himself, nothing but a lone sillouhete. A dark figure poised and ready to conquer anything in his path.*
