Interscope Records? Posted on 2013-01-30 by Jaleel Johnson

So yesterday when I went to the studio, I thought it was going to be a regular day. You know, do my lesson.. get in the studio and work on pro tools or somebody's track to practice my craft. But yesterday, people from Interscope Records along with OG Domino (From California) came through. And man was it an experience! To be in the same studio with Interscope Producer Maestro Turner and to talk to Interscope Promoters was a very valuable experience for me. On top of that, I got to witness them in the studio doing what they do. I got to witness their work ethic and I took mental notes. These guys love what they do. Even though they make alot of money and have been in the business for a long time, they still dressed like regular people and they encouraged me to chase the dream I'm after. 7solo was there as well (the owner of the record label) and he gave me some valuable advice on how to set up my foundation. I'm already getting my logo done and about to get my website created. He told me to get all my licensing and copyrites out of the way now. So when the take comes, I can just do what I have to do. He gave me his number, his website, and access to his DJ's and Tour Managers.

Now Tori, an intern that I learn with, is about start on her mixtape today. We got all the instrumentals and she has all the lyrics down. Now it's time to put it all in action. She booked her studio time and I'm ready to get in there and produce some tracks off her mixtape, if not the whole thing. That way, while she is getting experience as an artist, I can get experience as a producer. This is what I want to do. I am so excited and ready. After watching Maestro Produce for OG Domino, I'm going to take what I have learned from him and put it to use when I'm producing. That day changed my whole outlook on everything and increased my motivation to become great.

I finally finished up the course. My Certificate is on it's way in the mail. Last year when I first walked into the studio I didn't know how the hell I was going to figure out how everything worked, much less what it all was... Read More >>
