Chapter 10 Blog Posted on 2015-03-05 by Nicholas Jennings

In this chapter I expanded my knowledge of plugins. I learned about the different formats plugins come in and how they work with different DAWs. I learned more about the difference between and insert and a send also. Insterts are typically used for dynamic and frequency effects such as compressors and eq, and sends are typically used for time based effects such as reverb and delay. In the studio with Mark Sinko we worked on mixing the second song by EHR. The song had a rock vibe and we mixed it to sound like a rock song, powerful and plenty of energy. I also got to eq the kick drum using the eq from the mixer board. I had to sweep around different frequencies and figure out which ones sounded good or bad and either boost or cut them.
