During my lesson, Zack showed me the different types of microphones the have at Freq Lab. We talked about different types of microphone and read over their frequency response chart. There was this one microphone that caught my eye. It was the Yamaha Subkick. It's a low-frequency capture device (below 100Hz). It's made from a woofer and is shockmounted inside a 7-ply birch/mahogany shell with mesh heads mounted on the outside, which add up a tiny bit of sustain.
During my intern day, I got the chance to sit in two session. The first session was with Brian, we recorded a female Hip-Hop/R&B singer. She was a good singer and was being guided by her producer. The second session I had the opportunity to sit in on was with Zack. We recorded a Hip-Hop group named City Boiz. They recorded two tracks in a short period of time, but they laid down their verses quick. It was a good experience, and I also got to see Brian and Zack's recording techniques.
