Week 9 and I still haven't got my Pro Tools 10 and M-Box :( … Today's lesson was pretty simple. Usually it's a lot of information thrown at me at once, but today was a bit different. Zack and I had another overview of the SSL 9000J console, but this time around was somewhat of a quiz. He was asking me to name each button or knob and tell him what it does, and if I didn't know, he would remind me. We started getting into the basics of Pro Tools. I was introduced to the edit window, mix window and transport. I was also shown what each tool does, pretty much all of your basic options when you startup a PT session. I'm already familiar with Pro Tools so a lot of what he was showing me was review, but that's not a bad thing.
During my Intern day, there wasn't any session scheduled, but I did get a lot of studying in. I was reading over the SSL 9000J manual, and used the actual console as a reference. I always wanted to have a channel strip right in front of me when reading over the manual, so I figured this would be the perfect time to study the console. I'm really enjoying the experience I'm having and I'm learning a lot. Every time I step foot in the studio, my drive to become a better engineer keeps becoming greater and greater.
