First day in the studio! Posted on 2014-04-13 by Nigel Van Buskirk

My first day with Zack was fantastic! I just wish I made a better impression by knowing I was supposed to come to my first orientation/class with chapter 1 finished. I wasn't told by any of the RCC representatives that this was required. Nonetheless, within two hours of talking to Zack, I learned a plethora (some of which I should've already known) of valuable information. We basically went through an overview of chapter 1 and he touched up a little on what was to come in chapter 2. I had browsed through chapter 1 earlier that week but wasn't exactly "studying" it per-say. That didn't stop Zack from explaining huge chunks of the chapter in very relatable terms and examples. After the sit down with him I felt like I had read it myself! This made the process of taking notes and actually studying the chapter MUCH easier.

I also got to meet a fellow apprentice who was close to being done with the program. His name is Travis and I could tell he was really getting the hang of both Pro Tools and the studio enviroment as a whole. This reassured me that I am in the right place to learn exatly what I desire! I think Travis and I have similar schedules so I expect to be seeing him again.

As for meeting bands/artists/musicians: There weren't any clients coming in when I was there. I didn't really expect there to be on my first day. I did take a picture anyways of Travis in Studio D working on automating Delays in protools. I'm sure my next meeting (or maybe even the one after) with Zack will give me some client experience.

Can't wait!!
