Major: Audio Engineering

Welcome!  I am Russell Anderson, the avid percussionist, music lover, artist, foresight extraordinaire, and aspiring audio engineer/producer.  Currently I am devoting the most capable quality and quantity of effort towards developing my skills within the realm of SOUND.  My musical inspiration runs a dynamic progression throughout several genres including: Blues, classic rock, alternative, funk/soul, hip hop, reggae, jazz, electronic, etc.  I enjoy and aspire to create music that is meaningful, clever, soulful, unique, talented, masterfully mixed, and positively motivating.

After growing up in Livermore CA, I attended CSU Chico where I graduated with a BA in Art Studio, emphasis in Computer Art, and a minor in Anthropology.  This is where I learned how to learn.  I attended graduate school to pursue a single subject teaching credential in Art, but it was there I learned that I did not possess the passion to teach within public high school environments.  Before arriving at this conclusion, I took a six month hiatus in the US Virgin Islands to enhance my palette for cultural awareness, and of course, caribbean scenery.  In 2010 I gained valuable business/administration experience helping establish and run a PV solar panel cleaning company entitled "Shine up Solar."  Somewhere in between and during all of these life-altering developments, I learned to cook and use my kitchen skills to pay the bills.

With abundance of talent, oftentimes comes indecision towards concentration of effort.  Such was my dilemma.  Seeking insight towards discovering a focused career path to suitably excel within, I turned to the Johnson O'Connor Research Foundation for aptitude testing.  Here I was awoken by the power of knowing one's own innate abilities, and how these aptitudes correspond to the things we enjoy.  For years I'd been obsessed with music, addicted to my djembe, singing on various porches, writing songs, mixing beats, and constructing music history knowledge.  When I learned that I'd scored at the top 99% of all persons tested in pitch discrimination and rhythm memory (among other relative high scores) my passion for music became validated!

I realized that to pursue a future in audio, I needed to get educated first.  Thus began my quest for knowledge.  I packed up and moved to San Francisco, enrolled at the Art Institute of SF's Audio Production program, and initiated the phase of completely submerging my world in the pursuit of audio expertise.  After 1 1/2 quarters of dissatisfaction with the Institute's entry-level educational standards, general organization, and attendance costs, I found The Recording Connection's Audio Engineering/Producing program and quickly withdrew from the Art Institute.

Today I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from two extremely knowledgeable and talented professional audio engineers within Freq Lab Recording's state-of-the-art studio, in downtown San Francisco.  I am ready, willing, and able to reach my goal of aggressively becoming an elite audio engineer/producer of various artists, including myself.
