Admittedly I have been slacking when it has come to these blogs and the fine details of the following lessons are blurred, but the knowledge is still their. As per usual we discussed the chapter and it's techniques; where to apply said techniques, and a little bit more on actual compression itself. We talked about the loudness wars and how compressionlimiting had a helping hand in that. My mentors have a particular code of conduct they work by, and it goes something like "if you record it right the less you will have to do within your DAW to make it sound good" (unless of course you're looking for a particular sound that requires such). As far as their stance on compression goes though this statement is very apt.
