MIkING Posted on 2013-12-06 by Babah Paco

Date : 12/4/2013

Start:  4:30 pm

End : 6:45 pm

Studio: fast back

Mentor: Mark Naron

I learned a lot about this session and some of the tricks of miking a full drum set. During this session my mentor and I discuss about the different microphones and their capabilities. We talk about large diaphram mics, small and medium diaphram and why their placement is very important. I personally really liked the Neuman U47 and the 87 but every mic is just as important. Shortly after the theory, he had me connect mics to their stands and actually mic a drum set he had set up. I did x-y miking and John Glenn method for the over head mics. The instruments I mic was a high hat, cymbal, a kick drum, snare drum and Toms using different diaphram microphones. It was the first session I had to actually get my hands on stuff so I really enjoyed it.
